Andrew Mitchell MP has been looking at the possibility of moving Brassington Avenue

Sutton Coldfield MP, Andrew Mitchell, has been investigating the practicalities of repositioning Brassington Avenue in order to better incorporate the area into Sutton’s town centre.
Mr Mitchell believes that moving the road closer to the railway line would create a better development opportunity for investors as well as better integrate the site with the main centre.
In a letter to Birmingham City Council Leader, Cllr Mike Whitby, Mr Mitchell stated that if the move were possible it, “could unlock this whole process to the great advantage to all of us in Sutton Coldfield.”
In reply, Cllr Neville Summerfield, the Cabinet Member for Regeneration wrote that “discussions are underway with interested parties, to see if it is possible to better integrate the [Brassington Avenue] site with the Gracechurch and the town centre.
However, he did also highlight that the cost of moving the road could potentially be too high to “make it viable to a future landowner of the Brassington Avenue site.”
Andrew Mitchell MP said, “The whole issue of developing the town centre in the way we all wish has been badly blighted by Labour’s mismanagement of the national economy which is making investment much more difficult to attract into Sutton centre at this time.
“It is clear from my discussions that were it possible for Brassington Avenue to be moved we could unlock the whole development process to the great advantage to all of us in Sutton Coldfield.”
